HELLO and welcome to the latest news from ALBERT the tortoise HQ with our good friends Hugg ‘n’ Bugg.
As ever, there has been a lot occurring.
We have been to Wales.. to Cardiff. Home of our publishers Graffeg Books.. and where we were delighted to be invited to help launch the Summer Reading Challenge in libraries and with primary schools – in association with Books Council Wales.
The idea of the Summer Reading Challenge, run by The Reading Agency, is to encourage youngsters to try to read at least 6 books through the long summer holidays.
This year, the theme is Story Garden. Of course, our ALBERT books are all based in a garden and feature the adventures of Albert and his garden friends.
We were thrilled to take our ALBERT and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg picturebooks storytime events to Pen Y Lan Library and to Ely and Caerau Hub – and to meet pupils from Roath Park Primary, Albany Park Primary and Ysgol Nant Caerau.
We had a brilliant time – and we were delighted to gift copies of all our books in English and welsh to both libraries.
Supersize thanks – diolch to all involved.. Schoolchildren, librarians, Books Council Wales, Cardiff Libraries, Libraries Wales and Graffeg Books.

Of course, while in Cardiff, we had to visit our friends at super award-winning indie bookshop Griffin Books in Penarth. Partly to discuss exciting school visits being planned for November but also to see their amazing new dedicated children’s shop. Best wishes to all.
We have loads more library visits coming up.. this time in Hertfordshire. We were recently in our old childhood library – Oakmere in Potters Bar, Hertfoirdshire.
At the end of July we will be at FOUR more Hertfordshire libraries.. partly for Story Garden events but also marking 100 years of Hertfordshire libraries…
On Tuesday July 29 we will be at TRING Library from 11am…
On July 29 from 2pm we will be at BERKHAMSTED Library..
On Thursday July 31 from 11am we will be at WARE Library…
On July 31 from 2pm we will be at HERTFORD Library….
And.. we love the amazing ALBERT artwork on the Hertford library blackboard…

You know we love to see YOUR pictures…. we received some brilliant pictures from an elementary school in California USA recently… where the ALBERT books are a big, popular hit. Even with visiting tortoises…
