HELLO and welcome to a SUPERSIZE Blog from ALBERT the tortoise HQ and our friends Hugg ‘n’ Bugg.
A LOT has been going on…
You know how we love to receive pictures from you of YOUR tortoises and turtles with our books and other goodies.. Well, we had a brilliant run recently of friends of Albert geting in touch posing up a storm with their copies of latest Albert picturebook ALBERT AND THE THIEF… Thanks to all who posted or shared images.
We were also delighted to hear from The Tiny Tales Foundation about them receiving books from our publishers Graffeg .. including ALBERT story ALBERT AND THE FLOOD. The hope is the books will offer comfort to little ones in intensive care. We wish all well.
We received a super Review and Praise from Germany as well… From an author of books about tortoises.. Schildkrote in German!
Our ALBERT books were called CHARMING, CAPTIVATING, EDUCATIONAL – and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Wunderbar! Dankeschon!
Further afield we were thrilled to see images from South Korea of our Albert books at another book fair there – in Korean thanks to our Korean publishers. Nice blue skies too!
Much closer to home we were delighted to gift signed copies of several Albert titles to a nearby library in North Chingford. We try to support libraries as much as we can. They are great local assets.
While in Chingford – we had the call from indie bookshop Jo’s Bookshop to sign fresh stock of various Albert titles.. So we obliged. Always dlighted to keep the shelves there stocked with signed Albert and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg titles. … We have our early Festive Fun storytime event there coming up in November on Saturday 16th .. Look out for more details.
Another day – another ACE Book review we are pleased to say .. From book blogger The Strawberry Post. For ALBERT AND THE THIEF. They called the book FUN and WONDERFUL. That is great to hear!
Another 5* Review was posted to a certain shopping site.. Calling ALBERT AND THE THIEF .. BEAUTIFUL, STUNNING, ENGAGING and LOVELY. So super to see such a review.
Another 5* Review declared ALL PARENTS WILL ENJOY READING TO THEIR CHILDREN… How fantastic to see that.
As well as receiving nice Reviews, we also like it when our books are SPOTTED out and about. ALBERT AND THE FLOOD was spotted on the Books Council of Wales stand in Cardiff recently at an education convention. Good to see.
ALBERT and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg titles were also spotted on the shelves at Waterstone’s bookshop in the Bluewater shopping centre, Greenhithe in Kent. An eagle-eyed fan shared a picture. Please keep spotting and sharing!
We’ve been talking about it for a while.. But the time arrived for us to head to Wales to tour bookshops and schools. First off, we were delighted to team with The Bookseller magazine indie bookshop of the year, Book-ish in Crickhowell. Lovely to meet the bookselling team there and, of course, Mrs Bookish. We are most grateful for their help.
First stop on our schools tour was Ebbw Fawr learning community. Thanks to all involved for a super visit.
Next stop was Bishop Hedley school, Merthyr Tydfill… massive thanks to all involved there.
The next day we were at Llanvihangel Crucorney Primary. Once again, a super visit and we were especially delighted to see Albert books in the classroom and that the children were rating them and selecting their book of the day! ALBERT SUPERSIZE was that day’s winner.
While in Wales, we were thrilled to spot a newspaper article we had missed during our last roadtrip there.. when we visited Swansea libraries. Thanks to The Evening Post for a fab write-up.
After working with Book-ish in Crickhowell and Abergavenny, we then headed north to Porthmadog to team with indie bookshop Browsers. Big thanks to all involved once again.
Our first school visit was to Llanystumdwy primary. Supersize thanks to everyone there.
Then we headed to Borth y Gest school. Massive thanks to everyone once again … And WOW is our response to the supersize Albert the schoolchildren had crafted. Absolutely amazing!
Next we headed to Cylch Meithrin, Porthmadog. It was super to meet the little ones. Thanks to everyone.
Then we headed into the main school – Eifion Wyn – to meet 215 pupils. A very lively session indeed. Brilliant! Thank you all.
Just adjacent to the primary school is the town library and we were delighted to gift signed copies of ALBERT and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg books in English and Welsh to Porthmadog Library. Once logged into their system, they will be on the shelves. Thanks to the librarians.
Our final day in Wales started at Cylch Meithrin y Gromlech in Dyffryn Ardudwy. We had a super storytime there…. Before heading into the Ysgol Dyffryn Ardudwy. Big thanks to all involved again. A super visit.
Then, we were off to Y Gorlan Fach and Y Gorlan in Tremadog. A fantastic group and a lovely final session of our Albert and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg storytelling tour of Wales.
THANK YOU – AND DIOLCH to EVERYONE involved on our six day adventure.
When back at base – how super to see another ace Review for ALBERT AND THE THIEF.. This time form book blogger Fallen Star Stories, Mary Esther Judy. They said – A BRILLIANT TALE OF FRIENDSHIP, ACCEPTANCE, MAKING THINGS RIGHT AND WORKING TOGETHER. MIGHT BE MY FAVOURITE ALBERT BOOK YET. Wow! We are delighted to see such praise, obviously. Thank you, indeed.
Saturday October 12 was Bookshop Day. We were pleased to post some pictures of just some of the booksellers we have visited, signed books for, worked with or annoyed a bit in recent times. We always urge you to support bookshops if you can. Great local assets.
Well, we said it had been busy. Loads more upcoming.. We will keep you posted. Please keep sharing your pictures and posting your Reviews. It means a lot to us. Thank you for all the support you show us.
More soon.. Til next time…
