Hello – and welcome to the very latest news from ALBERT the tortoise HQ along with our friends Hugg ‘n’ Bugg.
No time to waste…
You may recall that our first two ALBERT picturebooks – ALBERT UPSIDE DOWN & ALBERT AND THE WIND are available in Korean .. in South Korea. We love to follow their progress out there and we were excited to see them at a book fair event recently. Thanks to our publishers and booksellers in South Korea.
Closer to home we had a special announcement … what the cover of our third ALBERT Board Book, ALBERT 123, will loook like and when it will be officially published… On November 5. It’s a super journey through numbers for little readers and joins our other board books ALBERT and his Friends (an introduction to garden bugs) and ALBERT ABC (a colourful journey through the alphabet with Albert and his picturebook pals.) Of course… real Albert insisted on some photos — and styled them himself.
You can Order ALBERT 123 now.
Our latest ALBERT picturebook, ALBERT AND THE THIEF, picturebook Number 8, launched this week… and we have had some lovely feedback already… like this super Review from Bentley Heath Primary School book club. They say .. “FULL OF FUNNY ILLUSTRATIONS AND HILARIOUS ASIDES”… “OUR BOOK CLUBBERS IN EYFS ARE READING THIS ON REPEAT.” It’s lovely to see such Praise. Thank you..
There was more Praise from Book Blogger It’s All About Stories .. who said “ANOTHER HILARIOUS ADVENTURE..” Thank you.
Another ace review for ALBERT AND THE THIEF landed from book blogger Red Reading Hub.
Seeing that they “ESPECIALLY LOVE” part of the story is wonderful. Thank you.
We also love it when bookshops feature our books. And super indie bookshop Tell Tales Books in Warrington, Cheshire posted this super image of ALBERT AND THE THIEF. Brilliant!
We were thrilled to celebrate .. or shellebrate … the launch of the new book at one of our local indie bookshops, Jo’s Bookshop in Chingford. A fab storytime with ALBERT and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg books. Thanks to Jo and the bookselling team plus all those who came along. Amazing!
Later that same day we received a wonderful image of a brand new ALBERT fan with their new book… a copy of our board book ALBERT ABC. We love to see pictures of YOU with our books.
We also marked the launch of ALBERT AND THE THIEF with an appearance on BBC Radio Surrey, Kent and Sussex with Adam Dowling. We chatted about the new book and also about our storytime events coming up at Surrey libraries on September 19 and 20.
On the 19th we will be at Kingston Library at 10:30. Then at 3:45pm we will be at Tolworth Library. On the 20th we will be at New Malden Library from 10:30 and then, from 3:45pm, we will be at Hook Library. There will be storytelling, a book stall, tortoises, yetis, dinosaurs and giveaways.
It’s not all been about ALBERT AND THE THIEF recently. We have also received amazing reviews for ALBERT AND THE FLOOD picturebook. Like this one from book blogger The Strawberry Post.
It’s a thrill to see praise like “THIS IS A BRILLIANT STORY WITH SOME GREAT ILLUSTRATIONS. I HAVE LOVED EVERY BOOK IN THE ALBERT SERIES SO FAR, AND THIS IS ANOTHER BRILLIANT ONE.” Thank you. It is much appreciated.
This week also saw us team again with the super charity Bookmark Reading. A while ago, when the first Hugg ‘n’ Bugg picturebook FINDING HOME launched, we worked with the charity and gifted 100 books to them to be placed in schools. They also took a copy of Finding Home to Mount Everest to mark the launch as part of a sponsored trek. It was amazing to see our book, set in the Himalayas, at the most famous spot in the Himalayas.
This week author bloke was in the spotlight as he filmed with the charity for a new initiative with our ALBERT and our Hugg ‘n’ Bugg picturebooks. The charity aims to let every child read. They help to supply books, library materials and volunteers to schools to help children improve their reading skills and joy of reading.
More news on this new initiative soon… and what might be happening with a set of signed Albert and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg picturebooks we gifted to the charity. Watch this space.
So much is occurring. More news soon. As ever – thank you for all the support you show us. Til next time…
