HELLO – welcome to the very latest from ALBERT the tortoise HQ and our good friends Hugg ‘n’ Bugg.
It might be the final countdown to Christmas and the Holidays – BUT there is loads going on…
You may recall, last time we reported, we were about to take part in an early Festive shopping event at Waterstone’s bookshop in Romford, Essex. We did it.
It was fab! …
We sold a fair few books – signed more for the store and there was a lovely atmosphere.. It was especially nice to meet in person other authors taking part. Including fellow picture book author Catherine Emmett.
Thanks to the booksellers and to the customers and to everyone involved.
Talking of other authors… Our publishers Graffeg had an idea to have us all film a message for the Season and to big up another of their author’s books. We chose Frog’s Bog and the author of that book, Marielle Bayliss, chose to talk about one of our stories.. ALBERT AND THE POND.. which also features a frog. Thanks Marielle!
A while ago we did some more filming – with our friends at Bookmark Reading Charity. Over the last few years we have gifted books to the charity and we teamed with them when they helped launch Hugg ‘n’ Bugg picturebook FINDING HOME at Mount Everest (appropriate as it is set in the Himalayas)… Their aim is to Let Every Child Read and they offer books and equipment and place volunteers in schools to help reading skills and confidence.
We spent a super day at their HQ filming interviews about writing and the joy of books and we also read snippets from our Carnegie Medal nominated story ALBERT AND THE FLOOD and FINDING HOME.
Now those videos have started to land. Some will appear on social media and at Bookmark’s website.. others will be sent to schools.. and the readings are now on the charity’s Youtube channel.
You can watch a reading of ALBERT AND THE FLOOD here –
And a reading of Hugg ‘n’ Bugg FINDING HOME here –
We said before Christmas and the Holidays are fast approaching… We have created a very special orginal artwork greeting which we will be sharing soon.. But in the meantime here is a little section of the painting by picturebook illustrator Eoin Clarke.
We will be sharing the special Greeting soon.
More news soon too – in the meantime, thank you for all the support you show. Til next time…
