Hello and welcome to the latest news from ALBERT the tortoise HQ with our friends Hugg ‘n’ Bugg.
Lots occurring..
It has been an amazing week.
We already reported on our Nomination for a Carnegie Medal 2025 for ALBERT picturebook ALBERT AND THE FLOOD. We received lots of messages and we are most grateful.
The Carnegie awards are judged by librarians and are seen as very prestigious in the children’s book world.
We were delighted this week to gift copies of our new ALBERT Board Book ALBERT 123 to our local library, where they join copies of all our Albert and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg books previously gifted.
ALBERT 123 was officially published this week and the reaction to this Numbers and Counting book for little readers aged 0-3 years has been super. Thank you.
ALBERT 123 was among a set of books we gifted to Brentwood Library in Essex this week. Part of Essex Library Service, we are now discussing possible storytime events at the library and others in the district.
We were in Brentwood for a school event – and to catch up with our chums at ace indie children’s bookshop Chicken and Frog. We teamed with the shop – a very early supporter of our ALBERT books – to organise the school event. We were delighted to sign stock of our books at the shop as well.
Then we moved on to Willowbrook Primary School in Hutton, Brentwood. A super ALBERT and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg storytime event meeting some super pupils. Supersize thanks to all the staff and schoolchildren. Signed books were delivered and will now be appearing in the school’s fab book vending machine.
We have lots of events still coming up – even if that big holiday season is looming. Keep an eye here and on our social sites for news and updates.
On SATURDAY NOVEMBER 16 we have our ALBERT and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg Early Festive Storytime at one of our local bookshops – Jo’s Bookshop in North Chingford. From 11am there will be storytelling, yetis, tortoises, dinosaurs and much more.
Early notice… we’re also lining up loads of events for next year. On Thursday January 9 we are set to visit Oakmere Library in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire for an ALBERT and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg storytime event. We look forward to it greatly.
More news soon. Thank you as ever for all the support you show us. Til next time…
