ALBERT MARCHES INTO APRIL

HELLO – There is a lot occurring at Albert HQ .. and here is the very latest news from us.

The week started brilliantly with a visit to Waterstone’s bookshop in St Albans, Hertfordshire to do a reading of Albert Upside Down and Albert and the Wind – to start the Easter school holidays.

The St Albans branch has been a great supporter of Albert and we are very thankful for their enthusiasm for the books.

It was great to meet some new friends – and to meet again some children we had read to at their schools.. and a parent who booked us to visit the school where she works. Amazing.

The shop has plans to make new Albert book Albert Supersize their chidlren’s book of the month soon. We are VERY excited. Of course, St Albans is where our writer and wrangler bloke started his career – on the local Herts Advertiser newspaper. He has signed a fresh stack of books for the shop and will be there again soon to sign more.

Then we had to rush back to HQ to do radio interviews for the release of ALBERT SUPERSIZE.

We had a lovely chat with Pat Marsh at BBC Radio Kent – remember Albert spent decades in Kent and was found in Gravesend in the county.

Thanks as ever to Pat and his team. Lovely to talk.

April 7 was PUBLICATION DAY for Albert Supersize – the third book in the Albert adventures. Unfortunately a worldwide shortage of paper and cardboard has slightly affected the release BUT books will be distributed in the next few days. In the meantime, we suggest you order via the Albert shop at this website.

More publicity for the book release came from more Radio interviews.

We chatted with David White at BBC Radio Cornwall and were able to mention planned vists to schools and bookshops in Cornwall in June.

Thanks to David and team as ever.

Then we chatted with the lovely Babs Michel at BBC Three Counties – covering Bedfordhsire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Thanks Babs as always. A top chat.

Our run as the window display at our local library marking the arrival of ALBERT SUPERSIZE came to an end and we had to derig. But we keep our display inside the library – and we will be there in May (as well as 9 other libraries across Waltham Forest) to do Albert readings. Check our social media for more details on that in due course. We will be gifting copies of Albert Supersize to the library soon.

We were delighted to gift a copy of ALBERT AND THE WIND as a Prize at a special children’s event for Easter in Walthamstow, East London.

Then we were asked to write a Foreword for an amazing charity and their literacy magazine. Story Corner magazine is run by Bookmark Reading Charity and aims to encourage reading in children. The magazines are distributed at schools, food banks and other outlets. We were delighted to be part of this. More about this in due course when the Summer magazine comes out.

Quite a week.. and loads more lined up in the days and weeks to come. All the very latest news will be here and across Albert’s social media.

Thank you all as ever for the support. We are most grateful.

More news soon. Til next time…
