BIG little First

HELLO – welcome to the latest NEWS from ALBERT the tortoise and our friends Hugg n Bugg.

Let’s dive in..

NOT LONG NOW to a BIG LITTLE FIRST for us here at AlbertHQ.. Our first ever Board Book is launching officially on August 22 and we are super excited.

Called ALBERT and His Friends, it’s aimed at little readers aged 0-3 years and introduces garden creatures like worms, bees, ants, woodlice and butterflies .. the idea of friendship and, of course, our favourite tortoise.

Nice thick pages, clear wording, great pictures and easy-wipe pages…

We hope Books will start landing with people very soon. Please share YOUR pictures with the books. We love to see them.

Of course..  new book coming meant new publicity pictures.. AND not just for ALBERT and his Friends Board Books… we also have the next Albert Picturebook on the way too.. Publishing on September 1 is ALBERT AND THE SHED… which sees Albert shelter from a storm in a shed, get locked in and prompt a chaotic rescue mission from his garden friends. Tom Cruise and Mission Impossible it is not. But it is a lot of fun, we hope.

So… lots of posing recently…

We’re not the only ones posing our books… We were pleased to gift some books to the Southern Arizona Reptile Rescue and Education group to help them raise funds via a raffle. The group helps many tortoises and lots of Albert’s reptile cousins. As a rescue tortoise himself, Albert knows not everyone is as fortunate as him.

We’ve been getting a fair share of headlines recently as well. Lots linked to upcoming bookshop storytime events.

On Tuesday August 22 we will be on a run of events in Kent.. at Waterstone’s in Bluewater, Greenhithe… on Wednesday August 23 at Waterstone’s in Maidstone and on Thursday August 24 at Waterstone’s in Orpington.

Our visits made the Kent Messenger newspapers… Each storytime starts at 11:30am

On August 30 we will be at Waterstone’s in Truro.. After a smaller piece in the Truro Voice newspaper last week, this week we have a feature article. Thank you all involved. Our storytime there starts at 11am.

On September 1 we will be at The Ivybridge Bookshop in Ivybridge, Devon. That made News in the South Hams Gazette newspapers. Our storytime there starts at 11am.

Publicity is also growing for our visit to National Trust Dyffryn Gardens on September 2. We’re all over their websites. We’ll be doing TWO storytime sessions – 11am and 12:30.

Talking of visits… we had a lovely return to the wonderful Southwold Books bookshop in Southwold, Suffolk .. thanks to all who came along and to the bookshop team.

More special events are being lined up… And publicity has started for our storytime sessions in Bristol as part of the Storytale Festival from October 20.

On top of all this..  we had a great chat with Jumoke Fashola on BBC Radio London about Albert, our books and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg. Thanks to all involved there.

Told you it’s busy… Thank you all for all the support. Lots more coming up… Til next time.
