WHEN ALBERT MET ALBERT

HELLO – welcome to the latest news from Albert HQ where so much is going on.. we have to Blog it to release the pressure…

We’ve been back on the radio.. We had a great chat with Gayle Lofthouse at BBC Radio Leeds and it was wonderful for our wrangler bloke to recall working on TV shows in Leeds over the years.. But, of course, also to talk all about real Albert and the picturebooks. A lovely interview and we say a Supersize thanks to all at BBC Leeds for being so nice.

We had some more pictures come in.. Action shots, dare we say.. of a recent visit to Wood End school in Harpenden in Hertfordshire. Again we say thank you for sharing pics with us.. we love to see them, even if they are of us a bit.

Another Book Pose picture we were thrilled to receive was from a fan – and their tortoise also called Albert.. Well, Uncle Albert in fact.. Named after the comedy character in the series Only Fools and Horses. This Albert could be 125 – making real Albert at 80 a bit young.

Some great posing with the Albert picturebook ALBERT UPSIDE DOWN.. We love getting YOUR pictures.. they don’t have to include a tortoise. Looks like Uncle Albert was enjoying a read of the book .. or maybe the illustrations…

Great news for little ones .. and arty big ones…  Our all-new FREE Colour-In sheets are now available here at the Albert webiste on the FAQs page.. Just download or print off.. We’d love to see your colouring efforts. Do share with us, if you fancy.. The new sheets have illustrations from ALBERT SUPERSIZE.. and forthcoming adventure ALBERT IN THE AIR. Have a go…

We were tortally thrilled to discover an amazing review for ALBERT UPSIDE DOWN in The School Librarian – official journal of the UK School Librarians’ Association. Calling the book CHARMING, LOVELY.. and adding YOUNG READERS WILL ENJOY. The journal is circulated to school librarians nationwide. How wonderful.

There was great fun on another radio show this week when – after more than a year of pandemic issues, our wrangler returned to the studios of BBC Radio Essex for the final edition of presenter Tony Fisher’s The Late Show. Our writer, wrangler bloke has been the regular TV pundit talking all things TV on the show each Tuesday. It was a bit emotional to say farewell to the show but there was fun in the studio…  Possibly our writer was trying to flog Tony a few copies of Albert the tortoise picturebooks..

Told you we were busy…  More news soon of more bookshop signing sessions and storytime readings of the Albert picturebooks.

Til next time…
