Hello – welcome to the very latest news from ALBERT the tortoise HQ and our good friends Hugg ‘n’ Bugg…
Lots to report.. as we are just drawing breath from a very busy World Book Day season and other recent events.
Continuing our vists to schools for World Book Day, we were delighted to go to The Castle School, Newbury near Reading. A delight to talk all things ALBERT and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg books but also about telly work, The Simpsons, Top Gear and all sorts.

The school was also kind enough to give us a lovely write up on their blog. Big thanks to everyone involved.

The visit to The Castle School stemmed from our visit at the end of 2025 to volunteers for ABC to Read literacy charity in Reading. The charity – Assisting Berkshire Children to Read also had a part to play in our visit to Rainbows girl guides outside Reading. Once again – thanks to all involved.

Next.. we were off to Farnham Literature Festival to team with our friends at Blue Bear Bookshop to visit schools. It was a delight to meet all involved and to work with Team Blue Bear again.

Now, because real ALBERT is back with us after his long winter sleep… (despite not great weather since he awoke).. we have been busy getting promo pictures with a selection of new books.
These include our first SPANISH translation… of our first story ALBERT UPSIDE DOWN .. which in Spanish is ALBERT al Reves. Obviously getting Albert to pose is always a simple task…

The Spanish Albert al Reves is available now on regional Amazon sites.
We were thrilled to receive a great 5* review for the book…

With words like GREAT, WONDERFUL, SUPERB… it is really very pleasing. Gracias!
There was more posing to be done too.. with the Maltese versions of Albert books .. that have been published by BDL Books on Malta.

The Maltese books are available online from BDL Books .. and from their shop in San Gwann.
Only now have we had time to get busy with our chat on BBC Radio London with Shay Kaur Grewal. It was a treat to appear on the show once more .. this time the day before World Book Day and with CEO of charity Literacy Pirates (who we now work with) Jude Williams. You can watch a bit of our chat here…
We were also delighted to return to local bookshop Jo’s Bookshop in Chingford… to sign fresh stock of ALBERT and HnB books. We are forever grateful to the booksellers for their support.

Make a note.. we will be at Jo’s Bookshop, Chingford from 11am on Saturday May 2 for ALBERT and HnB storytime with our picturebooks, board books.. tortoises, dinosaurs, yetis, book signing and giveaways.
We made another storytime return… to Script Haven Bookshop in Worcester for their Curious Minds Children’s Literature Festival. This is backed by Bookmark Reading Charity (who we also work with). Thanks to everyone involved.. especially the booksellers.

As we said.. busy times. And there is a lot more on the way.
As ever, we say a huge thank you to all for the support. It is truly much appreciated.
More soon.. til next time…
