Schools are Cool with us

HELLO and welcome to the very latest from ALBERT the tortoise HQ and our friends Hugg ‘n’ Bugg.

Lots occurring – as ever. Let’s dive in.

You might recall our first two ALBERT picturebooks ALBERT UPSIDE DOWN and ALBERT AND THE WIND are now available in South Korea translated into Korean thanks to our publisher there sumjib…   We always love to see pictures of the books out and about in Korea at book fairs, festivals and in shops and libraries.

It was great to see these latest images from more than 5,000 miles away from our HQ and real Albert who inspired the stories. Amazing. Please keep YOUR piuctures coming in from around the world. We love to see them.

A bit closer to home, it was great to hear from Pontypridd in Wales – not far from our publishers Graffeg in Cardiff. It was thanks to a post from St Michael’s RC Primary School in Pontypridd who had been reading ALBERT AND THE WIND and then took thoughts about the little garden creatures in the book to their forest school outside. It was great to hear from them and to see pictures…

NOW we are planning to visit the school in mid May – along with more neighbouring schools in the area. We cannot wait to meet the pupils and staff. Please get in touch if you and your school are looking at our ALBERT or Hugg ‘n’ Bugg books.

It was lovely to hear from our old friends at Wood End school in Harpenden, Herts ahead of our THIRD visit there to read Albert and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg stories. Especially when the school librarian there shared images of their tortoise Luna enjoying copies of ALBERT UPSIDE DOWN and ALBERT AND THE WIND. We are looking forward to visiting the school early May.

Another school we were thrilled to be involved with this week was Dogsthorpe in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. We recorded a fun episode – well, actually a DOUBLE episode, of their podcast Eddie’s Launchpad. It was a super chat / interview and we were pleased to send some of our books to the school pending a possible visit later in the year. Thanks to everyone involved.

We’re not quite sure when the podcasts will go live but we will keep you posted.

We were also thrilled to do a big Interview with a US Magazine.. Red Silk Carpet Magazine. They very kindly tagged our Albert books a “Global Phenomenon”. A very nice thought indeed. Thanks to all involved at the magazine.

In mid May we will be making another return visit – to our local library to be part of the Library Day there which is one element of a local Arts Trail event over two weeks. We will be holding a storytime and meeting residents – big and small ….. We are looking forward to it. We like to support all our local libraries in our local authority region and wherever we can on visits. Please do support your libraries if you can.

As we said – busy times. We will keep you up to date right here and on all our social media sites.

Thank you as ever for all the support you show us. More soon.. Til next time…
