HELLO – the latest from us here at Albert HQ.
The BIG news to begin is Albert is back. Real Albert woke from his long winter sleep a few days ago. It’s been a busy time. The weather is not that great still so he caught the humans a bit by surprise.
Warm baths were the order of the day. Since then, grass has had to be mowed .. and Albert has been thoroughly checking the garden.
It’s great to have him back. But we need things to warm up a bit more.
Meanwhile, it’s been a busy time as we had another road trip, more radio interviews and our chums Hugg n Bugg – the messy yeti and the Himalayan flea who doesn’t like the cold – launched their second rhyming book THE COMB officially on March 24.
To mark the event we were invited to the South West of England to do storytime events at schools and bookshops.
First we talked to Simon Parkin at BBC Radio Somerset about coming to Langport in Somerset and teaming with The Snug Bookshop there for a school visit to Long Sutton Primary and about a book signing event at The Snug Bookshop itself.
It was great to catch up with Simon – thanks to everyone involved.
Then it was off to Somerset and first stop was Long Sutton primary school. Lovely to read stories from both Albert the tortoise and Hugg n Bugg picturebooks – and to talk about writing and real Albert.
Big thanks to all at the school.
Next we were signing a stack of Albert and Hugg n Bugg books at The Snug Bookshop in Langport and meeting some great customers. Thanks to Sam there for all her support.
We even received a Book Pose picture from a happy reader with his copy of Albert and the Wind from The Snug Bookshop.
Next we were off to Cornwall.. and to Truro.
Chatting to Tiffany Truscott at BBC Radio Cornwall is always a treat – and it was again too as we talked about our event at Waterstone’s in Truro. Thanks Tiffany and team!
Then it was time to head into Waterstone’s Truro .. our fourth visit. And it was a grand day. Thanks to all the team at the store and to all those that came along. Readings, book signing, yetis, dinosaurs, tortoises – all sorts of malarkey with ALBERT and Hugg n Bugg books.
Once again, we received almost instant feedback from happy readers…
Also, some lovely feedback from the store itself.. Thanks again all at Waterstone’s Truro.
The launch of Hugg n Bugg book 2 THE COMB was lovely too. Some great action on the social media for both Albert and Hugg n Bugg – and writer bloke.
The new comical story seems to be going down well.
More news soon as we are still super busy with school and bookshop action!
Thank you to all for the support you give us.
Til next time…
