HELLO – and welcome to the very latest news from ALBERT HQ with our friends Hugg ‘n’ Bugg.
SO much to be telling you…
With World Book Day fast approaching .. It’s on March 2 .. the starting gun has been fired on lots of events and visits for us.
That means schools, bookshops, storytime, talk of real Albert and dinosaurs and yetis now.
This is what our packing and preparation looked like just a few days ago..
Jump forward a couple of days and we were in the thick of it at Waterstone’s bookshop in Bluewater shopping centre, Greenhithe in Kent.
Storytime was great and we say massive, supersize Thanks to all who came along.
Thanks to all who bought a book too and to the Waterstone’s Team.. we will be back soon with more storytime and more book singing.
Special Thanks to a SuperFan.. Esme, who came along with her mum and had prepared a couple of lovely Notes and drawings for us.
Later we got to see pictures of Esme reading her new Albert book..
Thanks to Esme and her mum. We do like to see Albert goodies with YOU all.
Before we could blink we were off to BIRMINGHAM in the West Midlands…
There we visited Sladefield School..
As ever, the children loved meeting our friend T Rex who helps us talk about how long tortoises and turtles have been around .. and to perform ALBERT SUPERSIZE.
Thanks to all the staff and pupils involved.
Next day, next stop Thornton School, Birmingham…
The children did some amazing Albert art – like this version of ALBERT IN THE AIR.
They also presented us with an amazing Thank you card – full of drawings and handwritten notes and thoughts on Albert and our visit.
Very special thanks to everyone involved.
Next it was further northwards – to Bradford, West Yorkshire.
No sooner had we arrived, than we spotted something we had missed from a previous visit to West Yorkshire to Halifax with the lovely Thoughtful Spot bookshop… to All Saints school in Halifax.. After our visit it turned out they had done a couple of lovely reports.
Next, we headed into Bradford itself and to the amazing Waterstone’s bookshop – which is housed in a Grade 1 listed Gothic building which was formerly the Wool Exchange.
We had a great morning of storytime and then we stayed on to sign books and meet more customers. Thanks to everyone who came along and to Team Waterstone’s.
We always say we like to see YOUR pictures with our goodies. We were doubly pleased to receive these pictures of a young fan with his copies of ALBERT IN THE AIR and Hugg ‘n’ Bugg FINDING HOME.. Some posing going on here.
We have only just started our roadshow for this year’s Book Day .. lots of schools and bookshops coming up.
We are also getting some nice pre-publicity.. Like this about a forthcoming visit to Mandeville School in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire. Thanks to the Bishop’s Stortford Independent newspaper for the coverage.
More from us soon. Thank you as ever for all the support you show us.
Til next time…
