HELLO – latest news from Albert HQ.
A sad time.. The passing of Queen Elizabeth has rocked the nation and the world, it seems. Albert would have been about 10 years old when she came to the throne. An amazing life of service.
Of course, quite rightly, the period of mourning has meant changes to some Albert events and we are updating on those here.
One thing that did go ahead – after much consideration by organisers – was the Tortoise-themed High Wych scarecrow Festival in Hertfordshire. Moved from the church to a nearby playing field, the event was dedicated to the memory of The Queen and we offered a couple of storytime sessions and gifted Albert books as raffle prizes to help the event raise funds for local causes. It was lovely to take part and we thank all those involved for inviting us to be there.
One event that has moved is our storytime visit to Jo’s Bookshop in Chingford.. One of our local bookshops. This will now take place on Saturday September 24 at 11am.. readings of ALBERT UPSIDE DOWN, ALBERT AND THE WIND & ALBERT SUPERSIZE, meet the author, books signing, tales of real Albert, giveaways and dinosaurs.. We look forward to seeing people there.
We’ve just slotted a new event into our diary… A storytime visit to Waterstone’s bookshop in Orpington in Kent on Wednesday October 26 at 3pm… We hope to see those that can make it there for some Albert fun.
As you know we love to receive YOUR pose pictures.. and we love to see our books being read.. So it was great to receive a batch of photos showing young Albert fan Chester reading ALBERT UPSIDE DOWN. Please keep sharing your pictures.
As you might know, we’ve been very lucky to receive some amazing support and praise from some famous people for the Albert books. We had some more famous feedback when we posted an image on twitter showing a portrait of This Morning and BBC Radio 2 presenter Rylan that might have been done on etch-a-sketch by Albert in his role as Tortoise Lautrec… Rylan actually LIKED the post. This probably means Albert will be doing more portraits…
Thanks to you all for the support you show us and to Albert – whether you’re famous or not.. We cannot say Thank you enough. It is truly much appreciated.
Lots coming from us soon… a new Albert book… Sister books form our writer / illustrator blokes… plus we’re starting all sorts of publicity and will be putting up a display in our local library to mark the new publication…
More from us soon. Til next time…
